'The Monarch Butterfly Life Cycle' is designed with the internal and external shape of this butterfly. It has the swan plant in it, as this is the host plant for the monarch.

'The Ulysses Butterfly Life Cycle' is inspired by Chinese painting on vases and Victorian design.

The Golden Birdwing butterfly design shows all stages of the life cycle for this butterfly. The leaves​ at the top are the birthwart vine that the Golden Birdwing butterfly lays on. Flower nectar is the food of these butterflies.

The tropical bird has been designed using the theory of emotion and the five senses. 

  • Two little birds in love.

  • Shape and colour for sight.

  • Birds eating berries for taste.

  • Bird singing for sound.

  • Smell the flowers.

  • Smooth texture for touch. 

​

This 2.7m oak leaf shaped mural is installed at the Matariki Rudolf Steiner Kindergarten, 287 Ruahine St, Palmerston North. 

​

One of the many theories behind this design, is based on the five senses. This philosophy is also used in teaching used at the Matariki Rudolf Seiner Kindergarten.
